Small Baking Company uses as many seasonal, locally sourced ingredients as possible, including organic whole grains and fair-trade chocolates. We sell at three local farmers markets, from our bakery Thursday-Saturday, as well as wholesale to local shops. Some of our classic treats stay on the menu year round while others change along with the seasons.
Joanna received a pastry certificate from Tante Marie's in San Francisco and interned at Tartine Bakery during the morning bake. She then went on to work at Batter Bakery, where she learned the ins and outs of running a busy neighborhood bakery and how to incorporate whole grains into baked goods to elevate flavors. She moved to Oregon with her husband in 2015. Inspired by the style and flavors of the PNW, she opened Small Baking Company in 2016, baking out of a shared kitchen space in Portland.
In 2023 Small Baking Co. moved to their very own production space in their hometown, Oregon City and in November
of 2023 they opened up the front of the bakery for retail.
