Saturday Farmers Market Rep
We are hiring for a part time farmers market rep. This job is every Saturday selling at both the Oregon City Farmers Market and the Portland PSU Farmers Market (on alternating Saturdays). The main market season is May - November, but there is potential for the job to continue year round. The markets take no Saturdays off. A market day is typically ~9 hours.
As a rep you represent Small Baking Co. and sell our pastries at a very busy farmer’s market. You are responsible for baking off the morning pastries, transporting all market gear in your vehicle, setting up and breaking down, handling cash and credit card transactions, telling our story, charming visitors and local shoppers, and ensuring each customer has a positive experience.
Our ideal candidate:
Job Time and Location: Depending on the weekly schedule: begin at our Oregon City Bakery at 6am (for PSU) or 7:15am (for Oregon City). Then drive to either the Oregon City Farmers Market or Portland PSU Farmers Market. The OC market runs from 9am-2pm; the PSU market runs from 8:30am-2pm. End at the bakery to unload between 2:45-3:30pm.
Pay/Benefits: Starting wage is $19/hour + tips (historically anywhere between $20-$60+ per day). In addition, we offer a market trade of $18 worth of product each market, a 50% employee discount on baked goods, and mileage reimbursement for all markets outside of Oregon City. We offer all employees yearly raises.
Interested? Excellent! Please send us your resume and short cover letter explaining why you’d like to work for us and why you think you’re a good fit for this position. Email Joanna with subject line: Farmers Market Rep
Note:
This position is only ~9 hours per week so it's not a good fit for any job seekers that need more than this many hours per week. This position is integral to our little bakery operation and we ask that people commit to at least the full market season (May-November). This position is best for someone that already has a set schedule and is looking to supplement their hours with a Saturday shift.
